National News: Actor Ashish Kapoor, who has appeared in popular TV serials, was finally arrested by the police from Pune. He is accused of sexually assaulting a woman during a party in Delhi. After absconding for three weeks, the court sent him to 14 days of judicial custody.
The complainant woman is a resident of Gurugram and is a professional by profession. She alleged that Ashish Kapoor forced himself on her during a house party in the Civil Lines area of Delhi on August 10. The woman says that the accused not only committed the act but also made a video of it and later threatened her.
The woman said that her phone was snatched immediately after the incident. Police suspect that the video of the incident is present in the same phone. Investigators searched the accused's house and restaurants associated with his family, but the mobile has not been found yet. Technical investigation did reveal that the last location of the phone was Civil Lines. Now a search operation is being conducted in Pune as well.
After the FIR was registered, Ashish Kapoor kept changing his location. The police first got information about his presence in Goa, but he fled from there before the team reached there. Finally, he was detained from the house of one of his friends in Pune. After the arrest, his medical examination was done at AIIMS, the report of which is yet to come.
In the initial FIR of this case, apart from Kapoor, the names of his friend, his friend's wife, and two other people were also there. But later the victim changed her statement and limited the allegations only to Ashish Kapoor.
Ashish Kapoor has played important roles in many TV shows like Saraswatichandra, Chand Chupa Badal Mein, Dekha Ek Khwaab, Molkki Rishton Ki Agnipariksha, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, and Woh Apna Sa.
